Duration: Long version: 6 academic hours (50 min each) divided in 2 days Short version: 2 academic hours (50 min each) Possible via zoom and presencial. No previous music knowledge needed. No music software or apps needed. This workshop is based on the creation of sound pieces and music in relation with everyday life. It is about taking the material of daily life (sounds, scenes and situations) for creating a music piece: imagining, exploring and playing with possibilities and combinations of sound. The workshop consists of short videos introducing the students to contemporary music composition (excerpts of contemporary music pieces, artists commenting their own works, etc), followed by a series of exercises, presentations and discussions. For the creation of the pieces in the exercises the students will be using what is available in their homes (if the workshop is via zoom) or what they can find in the room (if the workshop is presencial). This can be home utensils, objects, music instruments or voice. The pieces the students make will be performed by themselves during the presentations. No audio software needed. The workshop finishes with an uplifting view on the possibilities of creation, emphasizing on the richness of everyday life as a fountain of artistic material.
